As many of you know, I’m not a fan of the zombie sub-genre. I always feel like I’m watching the same movie over and over, and I’m not scared, just a bit disgusted by the violence and repetitive plots. (Yeah, yeah, you’re all going to say it’s not really about the zombies. Well then, why not take them out and put in a more original plot element?) However, I still wanted to like World War Z. I did not. Though the acting was decent and the special effects good, isn’t this really the same movie we’ve been seeing for more than 40 years, just a bit slicker and flashier? With that said, there are always a few movies that transcend their genre, and my top four zombie films are still [Rec], Night of the Living Dead, The Last Man on Earth and 28 Days Later.
