The Enzian Theater has hired Tim Anderson as its new programming coordinator. He will be the first full-time, year-round coordinator for both the Enzian and the Florida Film Festival.

The announcement follows the departure of the well-respected Clementine Leger, who served as programming coordinator for the festival for two years. Leger has left to become the new Slamdance Film Festival manager, in Los Angeles. (She served as the Slamdance programming intern prior to her Enzian involvement.)

Anderson is an award-winning producer with both film and television experience, and has served on multiple festival committees, but he may be best known in Orlando for hosting the monthly FilmSlam competitions at Enzian. He will continue to host that event for the foreseeable future.

“With the expansion [to three screens] looming ahead, I am both humbled and grateful to be afforded the trust and opportunity to help craft the programming at one of the finest art-house cinemas in the country,” Anderson says.

Anderson has earned the respect of the local film community through his years of involvement with Enzian and his vast knowledge of cinema, but he’ll still have big shoes to fill and a few broken hearts to heal after the departure of Leger, who endeared herself to filmmakers and patrons alike.

“It was an honor to work for the Florida Film Festival, which is an amazing event that we are able to organize … to bring amazing independent film to our local community,” Leger says.

The coordinator reports to Matthew Curtis, who will remain as programming director of both Enzian and the Florida Film Festival.

“[The coordinator] is basically being the director’s right arm. The coordinator is the person who is in touch with all the filmmakers to organize the programming. … [Curtis] is the one who runs the show, but then the coordinator is the person who fits all the pieces together,” Leger says, adding that, unlike Anderson’s new job duties, her responsibilities did not involve Enzian’s non-festival activities.
