Florida Film Festival 2024

Enzian’s big fest celebrates 33 years

Exclusive to MeierMovies, April 2024

The 33rd annual Florida Festival will screen more than 160 movies, from 37 countries, including 24 world premieres, April 12-21 at Maitland’s Enzian Theater and nearby Regal Winter Park Village.

Celebrity guests include John Cleese, who will screen Monty Python and the Holy Grail on April 14 at Enzian, and Natasha Lyonne and Clea DuVall, who will screen But I’m a Cheerleader on April 19, also at Enzian. In addition, legendary animator Bill Plympton will attend a screening of his new film, Slide, on April 15 at Enzian.

The festival will open with the drama Rachel Hendrix, directed by Victor Nunez and starring Lori Singer, both of whom will be in attendance. The screening will be followed by a party at Winter Park Events Center.

This year’s Closing Night Retro movie is the 1974 blaxploitation Foxy Brown, starring Pam Grier, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Following the festival, Enzian will close for two weeks to renovate its lobby. The theater will reopen on May 3.
