Walk away

A Walk in the Woods (2 stars on my 0-5 scale) is likable, and Robert Redford and Nick Nolte have good chemistry, with Nolte being particularly funny. But, as another reviewer cleverly phrased it (with pun intended), it’s just too pedestrian. I also was bothered by the contrived humor and lack of detail. (For instance, why don’t they comment on the weight of their packs? Why do we never see them shave? Why don’t they know where they are until they see a map two months into their hike?!) And worst of all, toward the end of the film, we see a traffic cop standing in the road, clearly holding up traffic for the film shoot, with people standing around staring at the scene being shot. Even Rick Perry would be embarrassed by that oops.
