Andy Kaufman is still alive. OK, probably not, but for the first time I am seriously entertaining the idea that the innovative comedian, actor and performance artist faked his death. The oddities and coincidences are just too great to not consider the possibility.

What changed my mind from considering the idea a hoax to a real possibility? I watched two documentaries: Thank You Very Much (2023, directed by Alex Braverman), about Kaufman’s life, and Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond (2017; directed by Chris Smith), about the odd transformation of Jim Carrey into Kaufman during the filming of Man on the Moon (1999).

Even after watching those three films, which I encourage you to do, you might conclude that the idea is just a joke. But as for me, I’m still looking for answers from the great beyond. And just in case Andy returns one day, I’m keeping flowers in full bloom.
