My top 20 films of 2015

Six weeks into the new year, I’m finally read to offer my list of the top 20 films of last year. Of course, any list like this is only as good as the person creating it. And, in this case, it’s only as good as the films I’ve seen. This list is still woefully short of foreign-language films and documentaries, but I do believe I’ve caught virtually all the most-buzzed-about movies and the films that made other critics’ lists. As I continue to see more 2015 films, this list might change, but probably not dramatically. And, yes, I did see Carol, Amy, The Big Short, Brooklyn, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, Son of Saul, Joy, Mad Max: Fury Road, Straight Outta Compton, Mustang, Sicario and Ex Machina. Though I gave positive reviews to all those films, they did not make my top 20.
