Manhattan Short Film Festival

The Big Apple meets Maitland as the Enzian Theater will host the 20th annual Manhattan Short Film Festival on October 2, at 6:30 p.m. But Central Florida’s leading art-house cinema is not alone, as the 20-year-old event – which bills itself as the largest global film festival – will screen in more than 250 theaters across six continents.

The festival will feature 10 short films from the United States, Georgia, Italy, Latvia, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, Syria and the United Kingdom. They were selected from 1,615 submissions from 75 countries. Audiences will vote for best film and best actor.

This year’s offerings include the United Kingdom’s Hope Dies Last, a World War II drama; Georgia’s 8 Minutes, a whimsical look at the end of the world; and the U.S. selection Fickle Bickle, a romantic comedy with a twist.
